AS
Monaco FC on Friday evening announced it has reached an agreement with
Atletico Madrid over the transfer of the latter’s Colombian forward,
Radamel Falcao.
After
passing through medical assessments, Falcao will finally be teaming up
with former teammates Joao Mautinho and James Rodriguez at the newly-
promoted French club AS Monaco FC, on a 5- year contract which begins
from 2013- 2014 season.
The
Colombian, who started his club career at River Plate has been a top
target of English sides Manchester United and Chelsea, until Monaco
became the favourite to land the striker just last week.
Monaco club president Dmity Rybolovlev, commenting on Falcao’s move to Claudio Ranieri- led Monaco said:
“We
are absolutely delighted that Radamel Falcao has accepted the challenge
of coming to play for AS Monaco FC. We are proud to have secured one of
the best players in the world and confident that he will help ASMFC
regain its rightful status.
Falcao
joined Atletico from Portuguese side Porto in 2011 and spent two years
with the club, winning the Europa League (2012), UEFA Super Cup (2012)
and the Copa del Rey (2013).
Falcao has capped 44 times for Colombia and scored 16 goals.
