As the dust is yet to be settled concerning the sudden death of former Super Eagles midfielder, Thompson Oliha, a woman who claimed to be his first wife have suddenly appeared to be part of his mourning.
Oliha who was a member of the Super Eagles team that won the Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia in 1994, died last Sunday after a brief illness in Ilorin, Kwara State, and it was reported that he is survived by a wife and one daughter.
But few days later, a woman who gave her name as Ajala Mohammed appeared claiming that she has a son for the late ex- international, named Clinton who will be nine years old by next year’s February.
According to her, members of the late player’s family including his friends and colleagues knew about their relationship which lasted for about five years before Oliha went for another woman who had a daughter for him.
The woman said they were living together in Lagos before they had a disagreement which made her park out of his house before he brought in the present wife.
She noted that it was necessary to tell the whole world the truth that the late player had a wife who bore a son for him.
“I want everybody to know that it is not only one wife that Oliha married because I had a son for him long before he married his present wife. And we were living together in Lagos before he got his present job in Kwara State and it was disagreement that separated us.
“It is also necessary to explain that even though he was in Ilorin, we still meet whenever he comes to Lagos and I also go to Ilorin quite often to see him, but it is unfortunate that he died while were preparing to have another child as we have settled our differences because of our son,” she explained.
Explaining how they met, Ajala said she met the late Oliha when he ventured into business after his playing career, adding that the late footballer made huge loss in business because he sold most of his imported goods on credit and those who bought the goods failed to pay and this affected his finances.
She, however, claimed she assisted the late Oliha to move on with life after the business misfortune before he got the coaching job that took him to Kwara state.
Meanwhile, wife of the late Oliha, Mrs. Iris Oliha speaking on the matter confirmed that the woman truly gave birth to a son for her late husband about nine years ago but that they were not legally married.
“I am not denying the fact that one Ajala Mohammed gave birth to a son to my husband about nine years ago, but they are not legally married either through traditional or civil marriage as I am the only legitimate wife of my late husband.
“There is nothing secret about the existence of the woman or the son because everyone in the Oliha’s family knows about them and even his friends know about it.
“Oliha was a very popular footballer and there was no way he would have had a secret wife or son somewhere and the press and his friends wound not have known about it,” the 34-year-old woman who has a four-year-old daughter for the deceased said....like our fan page on facebook abroko zone..
