END TIME: Another Woman burned with acid in street attack
A California woman was randomly attacked with acid on the street this week, according to reports in the news media.
A San Diego, California man was arrested for throwing the acid in an
attack on a stranger while walking into a Laundromat, a local TV station
reported.
Arturo Reyes fled after burning the woman in the
face, arms and back with sulfuric acid, on Saturday morning, and was
captured shortly after he raised a ruckus at a different gas station,
police said. It was not immediately clear what led him to attack the
woman, who was been hospitalized with second-degree burns and who told
the police that she did not know Reyes.
Reyes, 55, was booked
into jail on charges of assault with a chemical, aggravated mayhem,
vandalism and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
He faces the possibility of life imprisonment if convicted of these
charges. A witness at the scene told the news media that the man
attacked the woman with no prior warning.
