Two killed, 30 houses burnt as gunmen sack Plateau communities

Two aged persons have been killed and over 30 houses set ablaze by gunmen who attacked Dakum and Jol villages in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Sunday Mirror learnt that the incident which occurred on Friday night have forced many of the residents to flee the area.

Majority Leader in Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Daniel Dem who confirmed the incident to Sunday Mirror yesterday said over 1,000 residents who escaped being killed by the gunmen were being camped at Hoss Primary School in the local government area. Dem, who was saddened with the turn of events in the area regrettable it was sad that the villagers had to flee the entire community for their safety.

According to him “we are tired of this kind of event, as I am talking to you now, arrangement is been made to mobilise the Mobile Police to the area to beef up security together with the STF operatives”, adding that “sincerely, I want the security agencies to be up and doing to ensure that permanent peace is restored to the area”.

The lawmaker called on national and state emergency management agencies to visit the affected villages and supply relief material as over many people have been displace and their homes burnt.
He maintained that “we don’t know what we are going to do now, the entire village with over 1,000 population has been displaced, their homes have been burnt down completely by the suspected Fulani, we really need the attention of the Federal Government”, he cried out
