Eva Longoria flew back from Cannes on Tuesday in time to attend a very special event — her graduation. The Latin star, 38, received a master's degree in Chicano Studies at the California State University on Wednesday evening.
Ahead
of the unforgettable occasion, Eva tweeted: "Big day today!!! Very
excited to graduate for my Master's degree in Chicano Studies! You're
never too old or too busy to continue your education!"
The
brunette was clearly overjoyed as she posed for pictures in her black
cap and gown. And her parents, Enrique Longoria, Jr. and mother Ella Eva
Mireles, couldn't have looked prouder as they cheered Eva on, along
with other family members, on her special day.
The
actress' friend and former Desperate Housewives co-star Marcia Cross
was one of the first people to send her best wishes. "Huge
congratulations on your graduation today!!!! From Cannes to Cap and
Gown. You are really something. Xoxo m."
Mario Lopez also tweeted: "So proud of u! Wish I could've been there."
Eva's representative revealed she had been working hard for three years to earn her degree.
The
rep said: "Eva enrolled at Northridge three years ago and is receiving
her Master's degree in Chicano Studies with her thesis on 'Success STEMS
From Diversity: The Value of Latinas in STEM [Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics] Career'".
According
to California State University's website, Chicano Studies is a "field
that advances a critical understanding of the Chicana/o and Latina/o
experience in the United States. Courses reflect a multidisciplinary
approach to the understanding of Chicana/o and Latina/o histories,
politics, culture, language and education."
Following
the ceremony, Eva and her family went to her restaurant Beso, in
Hollywood, to celebrate her graduation. The beaming star looked gorgeous
in a grey dress by Monique Lhullier, a black clutch and matching high
heels.
