Sammy, Back And Better From Middleborough Loan Spell.

The brother of Magpies Shola Ameobi, Sammy Ameobi was on target for Newcastle U21 squad after a successful loan spell at championship side Middleborough.

Sammy made a total of nine appearances, netting on his debut for Middleborough.

In the Tyneside club’s play- off game against Everton, Sammy played the whole of 120 minutes as the game was forced into an extra time.

“It shows that I am improving fitness- wise as well as confidence- wise. I think I needed a string of games for fitness and confidence, playing football,” Sammy said.

The England Under- 21 added that he will be impressed if he could feature in Newcastle’s remaining games of the season in the English Premier League.

“It is good to be back in the swing of things. I had a good week of training so hopefully I will continue to do that this week and hopefully get in the squad at the weekend,” Ameobi said on his club website.
