Ahead of next month FIFA U20 World Cup, Nigeria has named six foreign- based players to the 30- man provisional squad.
The
players includes Switzerland based goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe, whose
father featured for Nigeria at the 1985 U17 World Cup; John Falegha of
Jamilu from Croatia, as well as Michael Olaitan, who recently signed for
top Greek club Olympiacos.
About
18 players from the just concluded African Youth Championship in
Algeria, where Nigeria came third, including the likes of Abduljaleel
Ajagun, Enugu Rangers striker Alhaji Gero and Olarenwaju Kayode and Umar
Aminu who was goal king at the 2013 AYC.
In
preparation for the U20 World Cup, twelve new players have been
included. Nigeria U17 central defender Wilfred Ndidi from Lagos Junior
League club Nath Boys is among the new players.
Nigeria
are drawn against Portugal, South Korea and debutant Cuba at the U20
World Cup in Turkey which kicks off on June 21 and ends July 13.
