Man arraigned for raping 15-year-old girl



An Osogbo Magistrate’s Court has arraigned a middle aged man, Suleiman Jelili for raping a 15-year-old girl identified as Liadi Alimot.
Suleiman, who is facing a three count charge of rape, threat to life and molestation, was said to have committed the offence at Sabo area of the town.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, even as Police Prosecutor, Mr. Solomon Oladele, told the court that the accused not only raped the teenager, but also threatened to kill her and one Owolabi Kabira with cutlass.
The police prosecutor maintained that the accused entered into the victim’s room through the ceiling and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her without consent.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Okobie Najite, said the alleged offences were bailable and that the accused should be presumed innocent until proved guilty.
He sought for his bail and promised that his client would be produced in court for trial.
However, the accused person failed to meet the bail conditions of N100,000 with two sureties granted by the trial Magistrate, Mohammed Lasisi.
